Years after Russia's full-scale invasion, many Ukrainian children continue to bear the weight of war. Nights mean sleeping in hallways or basements to the sound of air raid sirens instead of resting in comfortable beds. For these children, the Slavic Gospel Association (SGA) is organizing summer Bible camps, offering something increasingly rare: peace. Ukrainian churches are creating these havens for children growing up without knowing what a quiet night feels like.
Eric Mock of SGA describes these children's reality: "Many of them are growing up hearing air raid sirens almost every night. Often their father is absent, fighting on the front lines or working elsewhere to support the family." The camps take different forms, but all share the same goal: reaching children and families with the gospel.
The spiritual impact goes far beyond a temporary escape. "These children, who have suffered the devastation of war, are brought into an environment that seems full of light. They do not just hear the gospel message; they see the gospel in action," Mock says. Entire families are being reached through children who return from camp transformed.
Pray for the Ukrainian children who will attend Bible camps this summer. Ask God to draw entire families to faith in Jesus. Pray that Ukrainian churches will continue to reflect the hope of Christ amid the hardships of war, and that a new generation of believers will emerge to bring light to their communities.
