Amid the conflict ravaging the Middle East, something unexpected is happening: Muslims, in growing numbers, are reporting visions and dreams of Jesus Christ, and many are making the decision to follow him, in spite of the enormous personal cost. CBN News reported in 2026 that Pastor Georges Houssney, of Horizons International, met in Seoul, South Korea, a group of former Kurdish Muslims from Syria, Lebanon, Turkey, and Iraq who came to faith through supernatural experiences. "Every time there is a war, there is a great movement toward Christ," said one of the group's pastors.
Missionaries from the Assemblies of God and other evangelistic organizations report that they are witnessing "an unprecedented number of Muslims encountering Jesus Christ through dreams and visions." Missionary Dick Brogden said that it would be fair to say that "Muslims are responding to Jesus at levels we have never seen, not in the last 1,400 years." Pastor Nihad, director of a Kurdish ministry, recounted that he had a vision of Jesus while imprisoned by the Syrian government for political reasons, and that this experience was the catalyst for his conversion and his later ministry among the Kurds.
The phenomenon is not isolated: researchers and missiologists document similar cases across the Muslim world, from North Africa to Southeast Asia. In the Middle East specifically, the atmosphere of political instability, death, and despair created by the conflicts has led people to question the certainties of the religious beliefs they were born into and to seek deeper spiritual answers. The Lausanne Movement and affiliated organizations are monitoring and supporting these conversion movements, which frequently give rise to small, clandestine house churches in countries where the gospel is banned.
Pray for every Muslim who is having dreams or visions of Jesus in the Middle East, that they would find a believer or a resource to lead them into discipleship and full faith. Intercede for the converts who face rejection from family and community, and for the Kurdish, Syrian, Iraqi, and Lebanese pastors who are discipling them at the risk of their own lives. Ask God to multiply these dreams and visions, and that the conversion movement among Muslim peoples would keep accelerating until Christ is known among all the unreached peoples of the region.
