Overview

Martinique brings together few people groups, but ones of quite different origins: descendants of French settlers, the majority Afro-descendant and Creole-speaking population, Haitian immigrants, a small community of Indian origin (the Tamil people, brought for the plantations after the end of slavery) and a deaf community that still lacks full access to the gospel in its own language. Most Martinicans belong to Christian churches, but in a superficial or partial way: what is missing is biblical depth and discipleship that turns inherited faith into personal, living faith.
