Overview

Montenegro brings together few distinct ethnic groups, but the diversity among them runs deep. Most of the population identifies as Montenegrin or Serbian, historically tied to the Orthodox church, even though a living, personal faith is rare. The Bosniak minority, majority Muslim and concentrated in the north of the country, forms the main group now considered unreached, with practically no contact with an evangelical witness. The Albanian minority, also majority Muslim, remains little reached by the gospel. Overall, the Montenegrin people are among the superficially reached: they know the name of Christ through tradition, but still need to discover the gospel as a living relationship, not merely a cultural inheritance.
