An overview of the country's people groups, focusing on those who still have little or no access to the gospel in their own language and culture.
Despite its historical Christian roots, New Zealand today has 60 people groups, 19 of which are considered unreached, most of them immigrant communities from Asia, the Middle East and other Pacific islands that have settled in the country in recent decades and still have no church of their own in their language and culture. While the population of European origin and much of the Polynesian peoples have had access to the gospel for generations, these more recent groups live side by side with the Christian majority without the gospel having meaningfully reached them.
