Overview

Slovenia is a Christian country in name, but lived out as a personal faith by few. Joshua Project identifies 12 ethnic groups in the country, among them the Slovene people (the vast majority of the population), minorities from other parts of the former Yugoslavia such as Croats, Serbo-Croatian speakers, Bosniaks, and Montenegrins, as well as Hungarians, Istrian Venetians, Romani (Gypsies), and Germans. Only one group, the Bosniak Muslim people, is considered unreached by the gospel, and another, the Albanians, who are majority Muslim, is minimally reached. Most of the population, including the Slovene people themselves, is classified as "superficially reached": familiar with Christianity by name, but generally living apart from a personal, living faith.
