Overview

Switzerland is largely Christian by tradition, divided between Catholics and Reformed believers, but is undergoing strong secularization: the number of those who profess no religion at all keeps growing. Alongside the national population, immigrant communities from Portugal, the Balkans, Turkey and North Africa have brought Islam and other traditions, forming groups with little access to the gospel in their own language. The missionary challenge combines the revival of a historic church with reaching the peoples gathered on Swiss soil.
