Overview

Uganda has 66 catalogued ethnic groups, and the vast majority already have access to the gospel and established Christian communities: more than 90% of the country's population belongs to peoples considered significantly reached. Only two peoples are still classified as unreached by the Joshua Project: the Aringa, a majority-Muslim people in the northwest of the country, on the border with South Sudan, and the small Guzerate community, of Indian origin and Hindu tradition, present mainly in the cities. Together, they add up to a little over 1 million people, a small fraction of the total population, but still without a meaningful Christian presence among them.
