People
Who they are
The Adele live in eastern Ghana, in the Jasikan and Nkwanta districts, and in central Togo. They call themselves Bidire and speak Gidire. Almost all make their living from farming, growing yams, cassava, plantains, beans, and rice. In Ghana, there are churches in most Adele towns, but traditional sacrifices are still practiced even by people who identify as Christians.
