Who they are
The Aladjan, also called Alladian, live in Ivory Coast, in the subprefecture of Jacqueville, on the strip of land between the sea and the Ébrié Lagoon, west of Abidjan. Since the 17th century, they served as intermediaries between Europeans and the peoples north of the lagoon, and were known as deep-sea fishermen and traders. They speak Alladian. Most identify as Christians, and some follow traditional religions.
