Who they are
The Apinajé are an indigenous people of the Jê language family who inhabit the transition lands between the Cerrado and the Amazon rainforest in the north of the state of Tocantins. Traditionally organized in circular villages, they preserve a rich tradition of rituals, crafts made from babaçu palm straw, and a strong connection to their ancestral land.
