Who they are

The arutanis are an indigenous group originating from the forests of the Amazon region, on the border between Venezuela and Brazil. Historically integrated into the ecosystem of the rivers and forests, they faced a sharp population decline and cultural assimilation by neighboring ethnic groups. Their ancestral heritage and oral memories remain alive among the elders, while the people seek to maintain their dignity and identity amidst continuous changes.
