Who they are
The Antsukh Avars are a subgroup of the Avar people settled on the rugged slopes of Dagestan, in the Russian Caucasus. With a strong sense of honor and deep family ties, they preserve ancient community traditions and their own variant of the Avar language. Living in mountain villages has shaped a cohesive identity, where the Sunni Islamic faith structures the daily routine and social life of every generation.
