Who they are
The Bangwinji live in Gombe State, Nigeria, and call themselves báŋjìŋèb. According to oral tradition, they came from the Tula region and settled on a hill near Kaltungo. Wars led them to move to higher hills; when peace came in the 1920s, some moved down to the plains. Their language has two varieties, Nabang and Kaloh. Most follow traditional religions, Islam has a substantial minority following, and Christians are a smaller group.
