Who they are
The Baster Rehobother live mainly in Rehoboth, in central Namibia. They are descended from Europeans and Khoisan peoples. They left the Cape Colony in 1868 and settled in Rehoboth in 1870. They speak Afrikaans, but Dutch remained the language of religion for a long time. Many families have historical ties to the Lutheran and Dutch Reformed traditions.
