Who they are
The Riyah Bedouin are an Arab people living along the Mediterranean coast of Libya. Although their ancestors were North African nomadic pastoralists, most Riyah families today have settled into agriculture and wage-earning jobs. Community life remains organized around close-knit clans and deep family ties. They speak Libyan Arabic and maintain an identity closely tied to their tribal heritage and Islamic faith.
