Who they are

The Bei people live in the mountainous areas of the Lijiang region, in Yunnan Province, southwestern China. Historically linked to the Bai and rooted in the Tibeto-Burman language family, they firmly assert their distinct identity. In their daily lives, they maintain a simple routine centered on family and agricultural work, while younger generations balance these traditions with increasingly close ties to the surrounding urban society.
