Who they are
The Bei live in the mountainous areas of the Lijiang region, in Yunnan Province, southwestern China. Historically linked to the Bai and rooted in the Tibeto-Burman language family, they firmly affirm their own distinct identity. In daily life, they maintain a simple routine centered on family and agricultural work, while the younger generations balance these traditions with increasing contact with surrounding urban society.
