Who they are
The Big Sepik live along the banks and floodplains of the Sepik River basin in Papua New Guinea. Historically known for their imposing ceremonial houses and rich tradition of woodcarving, they have a culture deeply connected to the water and fishing. They speak the Iatmul language and maintain a strong communal life in their riverside villages, where the Christian faith is part of daily life for much of the population.
