Who they are
The Chichimeca-jonaz are an Indigenous people originally from Mexico’s central plateau, concentrated mainly in the state of Guanajuato. Heirs to a long history of resistance and attachment to their land, they preserve their native language and communal traditions amid the changes around them. Their identity remains alive in their handicrafts, local festivities, and everyday life together in their villages.
