Who they are
The Chimalapa Zoque are an indigenous people native to southern Mexico, inhabiting the rich forests of the Isthmus of Tehuantepec region. Inheritors of the Mixe-Zoque linguistic family, they maintain a deep connection to the land and to the preservation of their communal forests. Their lives are characterized by community solidarity, traditional agriculture, and a cultural identity passed down from generation to generation.
