Córsico
The Corsicans inhabit Corsica, a mountainous island in the Mediterranean Sea that belongs to France. With a very strong and unique cultural identity, they have their own Romance language, Corsican, deeply linked to the island’s history and poetry. Over the centuries, they have developed a spirit of independence and a strong sense of community, preserving ancestral traditions amidst continental influences.

Life in Corsica balances the rhythm of villages nestled in the mountains with the activity of coastal towns. The economy depends largely on tourism, the cultivation of olive trees, vineyards, and chestnuts, as well as the artisan production of cheeses and charcuterie. Family ties are strong and collective honor is highly valued, keeping traditions such as polyphonic singing alive during community celebrations.
Historically, Roman Catholicism shaped the island’s culture and festive calendar, with solemn processions and devotion to the patron saints of each village. However, in daily life, contemporary secularism predominates, turning ancient religious practices into cultural heritage, with little room for an active spiritual search.

Although the island possesses European infrastructure, many inland villages face isolation and an aging population. Spiritually, there is an evident need for genuine discipleship and a personal understanding of the gospel, bridging the gap between secularized tradition and a living faith in Christ.
