Who they are
The Digaru are an indigenous community who inhabit the mountains and lush valleys of northeastern India and belong to the broader group of Mishmi peoples. They preserve ancestral customs and a language of their own, living in close harmony with the forests and rivers of their region. Although Hinduism influences their religious life, spiritual traditions tied to nature still profoundly shape families’ daily lives and identity.
