Community life revolves around subsistence farming, mainly growing millet, sorghum and onions, with water shortages during the dry season shaping daily life. Villages are organized around extended families led by elders. Shared life is marked by community celebrations, mutual support among neighbors and ironworking and woodworking skills passed down from generation to generation.
Traditional spirituality still shapes the people’s worldview, with deep reverence for ancestors and rituals directed toward the spirits of the land to ensure fertility and protection. Although Islam and Christianity have spread, many still combine these faiths with ancient animist practices, fearing that they may displease the spiritual forces associated with their lineage.
