Who they are
The East Sola de Vega Zapotec are an Indigenous community living in the mountains of Oaxaca in southern Mexico. Heirs to one of Mesoamerica’s oldest civilizations, they preserve their own variety of Zapotec and strong community ties. Their lives remain rooted in traditional farming and an appreciation of their cultural heritage amid the changes of modern life.
