Who they are

The Eastern Pocomam are an Indigenous Maya people who live in the mountains and valleys of eastern Guatemala. Heirs to rich ancestral traditions, they devote themselves mainly to family farming and handicraft production. Although most profess the Christian faith, traditional cultural and cosmological elements remain present in everyday life as they seek to preserve their linguistic identity and strengthen their shared faith in their own mother tongue.
