Who they are
The Embera Chamí are an indigenous people living mainly in the valleys and on the mountain slopes of western Colombia. Keepers of a rich oral tradition and remarkable beadwork and body-painting arts, they maintain a strong spiritual connection to the forest and their ancestral territories. Despite external pressures, they continue to preserve their native language and cultural identity.
