Who they are
The Eotile live in southeastern Ivory Coast, in the villages of Vitré. They were formerly called Mekyibo, and the name Eotile came from their Anyi neighbors. Until the early nineteenth century, families organized fishing on Aby Lagoon through kinship groups. Anyin is their main language. Most identify as Christian, and a smaller share follow the traditional religion.
