Who they are
The Erromangans are the native inhabitants of Erromango Island, located in the southern part of the Vanuatu archipelago in the Pacific Ocean. They preserve traditional Melanesian customs and communicate mainly in the Sie language. Once marked by strong resistance to outside contact, the community now widely embraces the Christian faith and seeks to keep its rich cultural heritage alive in coastal and mountain villages.
