Who they are

The Ersu live in the remote mountain valleys of southwestern Sichuan province, at the foothills of the Tibetan Plateau. Officially classified as part of the Tibetan nationality by local authorities, they possess their own distinct language and cultural heritage, including an ancient pictographic script preserved by traditional leaders. Their community life revolves around hillside farming and a deep reverence for the customs inherited from their ancestors.
