Who they are

The Galibi do Oiapoque are a small Indigenous people whose language belongs to the Cariban family. They inhabit the banks of the Oyapock River in the far north of the state of Amapá, on the border with French Guiana. With historical roots in migrations from the coast of the Guianas, they maintain a deep connection to the forest and waterways, preserving oral traditions and ancestral techniques for fishing, hunting, and growing cassava.
