People
Who they are
The Ganang, also known locally as Gashish, live in the village of Gashish Kuk, in Plateau State, Nigeria, and have much in common with the Berom, the dominant people group in the area. In a 2001 survey, women said they would continue speaking Ganang with their children, while men mainly used Berom. Most follow traditional religions, and for many, becoming Christian may seem like rejecting their people’s identity.
