Os geser-gorom vivem espalhados pelas ilhas do leste das Molucas, na Indonésia, especialmente em Seram Laut e no arquipélago de Gorom. Tradicionalmente ligados ao mar, dedicam-se à pesca, ao comércio marítimo e à agricultura de subsistência. Sua identidade cultural está fortemente entrelaçada à fé islâmica e ao idioma próprio, mantendo laços estreitos com a herança costeira de sua região.
