Who they are
The Gwandara live in Nigeria, mainly in the Akwanga, Lafia, Keffi and Nasarawa areas of Nasarawa State, as well as in the Abuja territory and Niger State. According to their tradition, they left Kano when Islam reached the city in the 14th century and gradually settled farther south. They speak Gwandara, a language related to Hausa. Most follow traditional religions, and there are also Christian and Muslim families.
