Who they are

The Huitoto Meneca are an Indigenous people of the Amazon basin, living mainly in riverside areas of southern Colombia, between the Caquetá and Putumayo rivers. Guardians of rich oral traditions and a deep knowledge of the forest, they preserve their native language and organize community life around their traditional malocas, or communal houses. Today, they keep their cultural identity alive while pursuing community development and spiritual growth in their villages.
