Who they are

The Igdalen are a pastoral, semi-nomadic community that inhabits the arid plains of the Sahel in Niger. Historically connected to both the Tuareg and Songhai worlds, they communicate in the mixed Tagdal language. Rooted in a tradition of pastoralism and Muslim faith, they maintain an itinerant way of life, preserving strong communal bonds amid the climatic challenges of the desert.
