Who they are
The Iresim are a small Indigenous community who inhabit the Cenderawasih Bay region in the province of Papua, Indonesia. They keep their own language, Yeresiam, alive, passing it down from generation to generation through a rich oral tradition. Their identity is deeply rooted in the region’s coastal forests and rivers, where they preserve ancestral customs and a close relationship with the land.
