Who they are

The Jiripancó are an Indigenous people who live in the semiarid interior of Alagoas, in northeastern Brazil. They share a rich cultural heritage preserved in sacred traditional rituals such as Ouricuri. Although they speak Portuguese and interact closely with the surrounding regional society, they keep their ethnic identity and deep communal attachment to their ancestral land alive.
