Who they are

The Kadai are an indigenous people who inhabit the remote Sula Islands in Indonesia’s North Maluku province. Their communities live mainly along the islands’ coasts, where they maintain a traditional way of life centered on fishing and gathering marine resources. They preserve their own language and express their identity through strong communal ties and traditional beliefs passed down from generation to generation.
