Who they are
The Kaimbé are an Indigenous people who live in the semiarid interior of Bahia, mainly in the community of Massacará. Although they use Portuguese in everyday life, they firmly preserve their ethnic identity through traditional rituals and the struggle for ownership of their ancestral lands. They face challenges in securing livelihoods and essential services while keeping their rich community history alive.
