People
Who they are
The Kamantan, who call themselves Angan (or Anghan), live in southern Kaduna State in central Nigeria, mainly in the Zangon Kataf and Kachia areas. They speak Kamantan, also called Nghan. Most make their living from farming, growing millet, sorghum, and corn. They are governed by a traditional chief, the Ngbiar, based in Fadan Kamantan. There are churches among them, but some follow Islam and others place their trust in ancestral spirits.
