Who they are

The Kambiwá are an Indigenous people who inhabit the highlands of the semiarid region of Pernambuco, in northeastern Brazil. With Portuguese as their mother tongue in everyday life, they preserve their strong ethnic identity through communal memory, their connection to the land, and traditional toré rituals, which bring together music, dance, and ancestral spirituality.
