Tendo enfrentado severas perdas populacionais no século passado pelo contato e pelo avanço extrativista, mantêm firme a preservação de sua identidade. Hoje, muitos se comunicam em português e lutam pela sustentabilidade de suas comunidades e terras ancestrais.
