The Kari are an indigenous people of the Adamawa language group, concentrated mainly in the savannas and hills of the Central African Republic and neighboring border areas. With a strong connection to the land and the traditions of their ancestors, they keep their own language alive, speaking it in their villages and passing it down from generation to generation. Over time, they have developed a communal identity marked by resilience through periods of profound regional instability, preserving cooperation within families and respect for the traditional leadership of elders.

Daily life among the Kari revolves around subsistence farming and the cultivation of cassava, corn, peanuts, and sorghum. Families live in small rural communities of mud houses with thatched roofs, sharing farm work and the care of small livestock. Hospitality and kinship ties guide collective decisions and the resolution of local conflicts.
Many Kari profess the Christian faith, gathering in local churches that play a central role in community life. However, traditional religious practices and rituals still influence the daily lives of many families, particularly as they seek protection from disease and nature spirits. There is an ongoing need for discipleship that helps them integrate biblical faith into every area of life.

Kari communities suffer the effects of recurring armed conflicts in the region, which cause displacement and food insecurity. There is a severe shortage of functioning health clinics, basic medicines, and adequately equipped schools. Spiritually, the local church needs sound discipleship and pastoral training to strengthen faith in the face of daily trials.
