Who they are
The Kato, historically known as the Cahto, are a small Indigenous people native to northern California in the United States. With historical ties to the valleys and forests of the Mendocino region, they endured periods of severe displacement and cultural loss. Today, the community remains committed to honoring its ancestral heritage and preserving its identity among younger generations.
