Who they are

The Kimaghima are an Indigenous people who inhabit Yos Sudarso Island in the swampy regions along the southern coast of Papua, Indonesia. They traditionally live by fishing, hunting, and harvesting sago on river islands. Their identity remains closely tied to the rivers and mangrove forests as they preserve their native language and ancestral community ties in relative geographic isolation.
