Who they are
The Li bendi are one of the oldest and most traditional branches of the Li people, original inhabitants of the mountainous areas of Hainan Island. They preserve their mother tongue, Hlai, and a lifestyle deeply connected to the land and the region’s tropical forests. Their identity is marked by respect for ancestral traditions and a rich cultural heritage passed down from generation to generation.
