Who they are
The Lom, traditionally known as Mapur, are considered the first inhabitants of Bangka Island in Indonesia. Historically connected to the forests and hills of the island’s north, they preserve a distinctive identity amid the pressures of modernity and agricultural expansion. Their heritage combines ancestral customs with centuries of coexistence alongside the neighboring Malay culture.
