Who they are

The Ludians are a Finno-Ugric people native to the historical region of Karelia in northwestern Russia. Very close culturally and linguistically to the Karelians and Vepsians, they maintain a deep connection to the boreal forests and lakes of their ancestral land. Although their own language faces a steep decline, they continue striving to keep their heritage and community traditions alive.
