Who they are

The Matlatzinca of Atzingo, also known as Tlahuicas, are an indigenous people native to the mountainous region of central Mexico. Guardians of ancestral forests, they maintain strong community bonds and a unique linguistic heritage. Although they live close to urban centers and are integrated into Mexican society, they struggle to preserve their own identity and the traditions of their ancestors.
