The Mazatec of this region live in the mountains and valleys between southeastern Puebla and northern Oaxaca, Mexico. As guardians of a rich tonal language and deeply rooted agricultural traditions, they maintain a strong attachment to the land and community life. Although most profess the historic Christian faith, traditional beliefs still strongly shape the daily lives of families.
